Home is more than just a place to rest our heads; it's a sanctuary for our well-being.In this blog I am going to give you my view as an Interior Designer on ways to make invested improvements that can actually change your health for the better. This involves mindful choices that contribute to physical, mental, and emotional health. We'll explore ideas to transform your living space into a haven that promotes overall well-being, and with E-Design we can make the transitions that you deserve with a more affordable method.

1.Bring in the Natural Light.

Without going into too much detail, our bodies require natural light to function at their best, avoiding fatigue, headaches and no motivation, therefore improving your sleep patterns.

Some examples of letting in the natural light would be, use light window shades or sheer curtains, in areas where you spend time in the day, instead of heavy curtains. Curtains are great in the bedroom where you want to sleep and keep the room dark.

Place Mirrors throughout your home to reflect and amplify natural light, also making the space feel bigger and brighter.

2.Maximize the energy-saving potential of your home

Make improvements to your home long term by replacing old windows and doors with energy-efficient models to improve insulation.

Upgrade your HVAC system to a more efficient one, and install a programmable thermostat, this will be energy saving, in return it is healthier, with a more comfortable living environment.

3.Breath Quality Indoor Air

Improving the quality of the air in your home is something not many people think about doing, but it can add years to you and your family's life.

The air in our home is more polluted than the air outside in most cases. Pollution comes from gas ovens, furniture, paint, mold, walking dirt in, and many other ways.

Invest in air purifiers to reduce allergens and pollutants, fostering a fresher and healthier indoor atmosphere.

Integrate proper ventilation systems to reduce the risk of indoor air pollutants. Improving ventilation by regularly changing air filters and opening windows enhances the quality of the air you breathe, contributing to a healthier living space.

Add pet, child friendly houseplants to your home creating a calming environment, as many houseplants help to purify the air, such as snake plants, spider plants, or peace lilies.

4.Upgrade the Kitchen and Bathroom

You may be wondering how upgrading your Kitchen and Bathroom has anything to do with your health, although they are a great way to add value to your home. Kitchens and bathrooms are key areas you spend preparing your meals and looking after your health and hygiene , that look after your wellbeing. It is a long term investment that should be carefully planned out with the help of a professional. Investing in a water-saving faucet and efficient appliances can reduce water usage, benefiting both your wallet and the environment.

If you are thinking of redesigning a kitchen or bathroom, E-design is a great  option to guide you through the design, and give advice on how to project manage your contractors. This is a more affordable way than hiring an in house Interior Designer.

5.The benefits of Hiring an E-Designer for your Furniture layout placement

A well throughout designed space is crucial for creating both visually and safe spaces.

Hiring an E- Designer to help you find the best solutions to make your home a safe, calm environment is essential for your health and happiness. It is best to avoid clutter and ensure there is enough clearance for easy movement and a good flow.

6.Healthy Sleep Environment

Sleep is a priority for good health so leave your hard working day, and all the technologies out of the bedroom. Read a book to unwind, relax and reward yourself with a better night's sleep.

Invest in a comfortable mattress and pillows with quality bedding, use calming colors. Also it is worth investing in organic bedding as this has many benefits for your health. My advice is to look up a dealer and read all the reasons why to buy organic as there is so much information out there.

7. Childproofing and Pet Safety

For families with young children or pets, safety considerations take on an additional layer of importance. This also helps to educate them to behave better. Install cabinet locks, soft-close hinges, and outlet covers to childproof your home. Consider materials that are easy to clean and durable to withstand the activities of both kids and pets.

8. Invest in a water filter system

Hydration is the foundation of health. Upgrade your water source by investing in a reliable filtration system. Clean, pure water straight from your tap is so convenient and saves buying water bottles.

To round it up,

Making long-term home improvements is an investment in both your property and your well-being. By focusing on energy efficiency, upgrading key areas like the kitchen and bathroom, prioritizing indoor air quality, integrating smart home technology, and creating flexible living spaces, you can increase the value of your home while promoting a healthier and more sustainable lifestyle. These improvements not only pay off in terms of resale value but also contribute to the long-term health and happiness of your home.
